Yeah, they changed and cut out quite a few things, but I personally thought they still maintained the spirit of the story and their changes were pretty good. Channing Tatum as Marcus was not the best choice they could have made, but again, surprisingly better than I was expecing. And I loved Jamie Bell as Esca.Mara A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00484574814523220378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12256458.post-70580741183092420162012-08-10T04:06:57.416+00:002012-08-10T04:06:57.416+00:00I was just searching around on google because of t...I was just searching around on google because of the no Cradoc thing. I know this is a bit late, but I was looking at the credits and the credits said that someone named Douglas Henshall played a 'Cradoc' in the film. I then remembered watching a scene cut out of the film (I bought the DVD) in which Marcus chariot races a Briton. This Briton is Cradoc. People think that there was no Cradoc in the film, but he was there (but technically not), but you would have had to buy the DVD. Which is disappointing, I'll admit. But there was definitely no Cub or Cottia.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04008715398955713831noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12256458.post-59970629019851591562011-06-15T20:26:49.165+00:002011-06-15T20:26:49.165+00:00Enjoyed reading your take on the film - I agree wh...Enjoyed reading your take on the film - I agree whole-heartedly, especially about the effect of keeping Esca as a slave, and leaving out Cub and Cottia. A lot of the kindness, friendship and warmth of the book were left out.speak treason fluentlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02864202208205129798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12256458.post-34862552332625232642011-04-12T22:51:14.300+00:002011-04-12T22:51:14.300+00:00Oh dear! I see that Anthony Lawton thinks the film is good which surprises me a great deal. I have given some thought to how the film could have been salvaged and possibly a narrator's voice would have given Marcus and Esca more depth through some introspection. Very sad but let's hope it at least encourages a new generation of Sutcliff readers rather than puts them off for good!
